Occupational Therapy

We provide occupational therapy to children of all ages. The aim of Occupational Therapy is to facilitate the child’s ability to participate in the everyday tasks of childhood (work, play and self-care). The name A Place to Grow was chosen to symbolize our belief that when children and families are provided with support and rich, fertile conditions they can develop, grow, and flourish along their own unique individual trajectory.

about us

I am Amy Loesch, OTR/L, director at A Place to Grow and an occupational therapist with 30 years of experience.

I have worked with kids, families, and teachers in a variety of different settings providing occupational therapy, training, consultation and coaching.

I am also the mother of twins who are now young adults! My family purchased our house and created A Place to Grow in the dedicated lower half of our home in 2007.  It has been such a joy to share this space with so many kids and families through the years!

I am lucky to have a team of talented and dedicated OT colleagues who work with me at A Place to Grow providing support to kids and families in the clinic and in area schools.

philosophy

We believe that children deserve to be supported, loved and valued for who they are.

  • All children want and need to feel strong, confident and capable and to be successful in conquering challenges.
  • Play is a powerful medium for facilitating growth and development in all areas of a child’s life.
  • Learning happens in the context of being in warm, nurturing, supportive relationships with others.
  • Physical, sensory, relational and social environments have important influences on how an individual feels and functions.
  • Families love their children and want what is best for them. A child’s family is their most important resource. Together we can help children grow, feel empowered and be successful.

our space

A Place to Grow is located in the lower half and outdoor natural areas of my home. It is a warm, cozy, environment where children and families feel welcome.

This dedicated therapy space includes a waiting area, a sensory integration gym, and three smaller rooms for individual sessions and groups.  We also frequently utilize our outdoor spaces when weather permits.  We have a patio with tables and chairs and a large fenced in natural area with a playground and other movement opportunities.   We frequently share the outdoor space with Carolina Anoles (lizards also like to play)!
